TITLE: INSTALLATION ART OF DEFORESTATION PROPOSAL

OBJECTIVE:

      i.        We show the texture of the infertility soil after the deforestation on projector.

    ii.        We will use papers, newspaper or material that be made using tree to show the wastage of paper that human use and this lead to the active deforestation.

   iii.        Using made tree bark to show the deforestation that still happen nowadays and still happen in future if there no prevention and the imbalance of the world.

AIM: This project is to create awareness and let people think about the impact of deforestation    toward the world and preserving it for the next generation.

CONCEPT: Our concept is to show the impact/effect of the deforestation that happen now and toward the future and also happen if this kind of thing cannot be stopped. Our concept also is to let think or reflect about they done for the skyscraper building and ignoring the land they stand now.

MATERIALS: Newspapers, 2 rolls of fishing rope, recycle/unused papers, a bunch of chopsticks, a bunch of toothpicks, 1 bottle of white paint, 2 bottles of glue and wood filler, tree branch, tree age ring texture and tree bark texture.

THE DISADVANTAGES OF DEFORESTATION:

      i.        One of the disadvantages of the deforestation is global warming phenomena that lead towards of the increase in sea level and climate change this is because of the increasing temperature from the co2 emission.

    ii.        Deforestation also lead to the decrease of oxygen level and the increasing of carbon dioxide because the there are no tree to filter the carbon dioxide and changing it into oxygen.

   iii.        Deforestation also lead to the destruction of the wildlife habitat and this will lead to the extinctions, this will causing havoc in the biological food chain and the imbalance of the ecosystem.

   iv.        Deforestation also the cause of the soil erosion, without the tree, the soil will lose the fertility because the lack of nutrient and this cause of the desertification.

    v.        Deforestation also causing the flood or landslides, because on the heavy rain there no barrier between the rain and the soil because tree is the barrier between rain and land and slowing the rain flow.

   vi.        Deforestation also the major cause of the greenhouse effect. It’s happen because of the emission of the co2 and it trapped the radiation from the sun and increasing the temperature and depletion of the ozone layer.

RATIONAL: We use the white paint for the tree bark because it is the base paint for the concrete building and this show that the modern things nowadays come from a single tree. We also put the tree stump on the wall to show the people now look up for the modernist for example skyscrapers and forgetting the land they stand on and everything that come from the land.

Task : Packaging

From the last task we need to find 3 packaging that we think there is something that is not right at the packaging and do a proposal that show what is wrong with the packaging that we have choose. After that we need to choose 1 packaging that we want to redesign it to look more better.

TITTLE : PACKAGING DESIGN PROPOSAL

OBJECTIVE: 
1.Change the shape of the bottle from circle to triangle. The reason to do this transform because it will look nice on the display.
2.Use other material to replace the glass such as the plastic bottle that can be recycle.
3.

AIM : Make the bottle can be reuse and improve the design that make it look suitable for the  product.

PROBLEM STATEMENT : 

•  The label are too small and not aligned. Other than that the information on the label are not enough and the color of the label and the bottle are same color it look not interesting. If the label are move we do not know what bottle it is. The latter are too small and difficult to read. The logo are small and cannot be see from far. This packaging also does not have a price tag.
• This bottle was a glass bottle as we know the glass bottle are easy to break. When the glass bottle are break it is very dangerous compare to the plastic bottle. It is because when the glass break the fragment are very sharp and can hurt anyone who stepped on it.
• Other than that the cap of the bottle it use the cans cap. It will make the bottle can not be reuse because it cannot  be save if we not finis drink the water. 
• The use of the bottle glass is more heavy compare to when we use the plastic or event use the aluminium can. 

PROBLEM SOLUTION

• Use the difference color of the bottle so that we can see the difference between the label and the bottle such as replace the green color to the white color. Make the label a little bit bigger so that we can put all the important information at the bottle such as the nutrition information, the caution and the ingredient. Other than that we also can replace the label of the logo with make a cop at the bottle. It can reduce the wastage of the sticker use. 
• Replace the glass to the plastic bottle. It will reduce the danger of the bottle.
• Use the plastic cap like a screw cap it will make the bottle can be reuse and when the water are not finis we still can save it in refrigerator.
• Make the shape of the bottle triangle and make a grip at the middle of the bottle. It help in holding the bottle.
• triangle shape can save more space in display.
• Make a hole at the bottom of the bottle it will help when want to put the bottle in a large container or box.
• Other than to tag the bottle the hole also can use to keep the cap of the bottle.

RATIONAL

• First is to make the bottle easy to carry anywhere because it is not heavy
• It will not be too dangerous if the bottle fall down because it is plastic.
• When we hold the bottle there are grip on the bottle so we not scare that the bottle fall down.
• The hole at the  bottom of the bottle are use to tag another bottle. It will protect the bottle if we put the bottle in the container and also will save the space use to organize the bottle. 

Critical thinking [navigate me!]

Task : Navigate me !

For this task we need to go out from the collage and record all the thing that happen around us. We need to do a map for the place that we go but we are allow to use only sound to represent the place. At first I think it is very hard to do because there is some place that I think difficult to make sound such as the place like the grave and the sound of traffic light. But when we think over and over I came with the solution. It is true that the traffic light not have the sound and how I want to show that the traffic light are green or red? so I come with  the solution that is I make the sound of screeching of the car that will show that the car are break and want to stop. For the other way I make the sound of the car with the big typo and it show that the car are press the paddle and want to start to move.
Other than that I find out that although we use the different typography with the same color it will make the the map not look like a map. Therefor I use a difference of color to make it look more interesting and nice. I use the negative and positive technique for the rood to make it clear and can differentiate between the rood and the building along the rood side.

This is my first experiment using the software.

I think it is interesting because I start exploring the software by myself and learnt more about it. I can use more type of the typo and use a different size of it to make it look interesting. But I find out that sometime when we use our hand writing it will be more interesting but it's ok, because it just exploration and experiment for us to get some knowledge.

This is my experiment using hand writing and the process make it.

This is part of my work, I think it look interesting because we can write freely on it and also can make shape from it. I use different color of ball pen so it will look more interesting because people like to see thing which have 2 or 3 difference color. I also make the typo with a difference type and difference size.

Activity In The Class

Yesterday we have a tutorial about how to do a tracing an image and we choose the logo of Starbucks it quite interesting because it can improve our skill in using illustrator. We can tracing an image either using pen tool or using the shape. For the logo that I tracing I use the shape circle and I also use the pen tool to make it. At first I find it difficult to do it but after the tutorial it easy to understand and I think I fall in love with the illustrator. This is the process of my work:

For this step I find that the typo for the word Starbucks and coffee is not in format and I need to buy it if I want to use it so I decided to use other typo that look similar to the original typeface. Therefore I use Microsoft YaHei UI bold as the typeface for the word Starbucks and coffee.

Secondly I make the icon at the center of the circle. I find out that the icon are same in the both side so I just make at the left side and then I reflect it to other side.

Midpoint Review

Early in this semester we are need to design a poster from the story that we have choose for me I choose the movie Snow White and the Seven Dwarf. As we see nowadays the poster that we see in the cinema have a lot of image they put all the actor at the poster but for this task we are need to minimize the using of the image. In this case we need to survey the story and the thing that they use in this story, for my story after the survey that I make I identify that the main thing is the apple and the snow so the poster that I made must have this two thing. Other than that learnt to use the software is the main thing in this subject I need to use the software for every task that I made such as illustrator, photoshop and many thing that relate to the task that I want to make.

For the second task we need to relate it to the first task, we need to make a movie sequence. This task take a long time to finish because we need to do a lot of work like understand the plot of  the story, design the character and do a movie sequence to the suitable design. For my movie sequence I made it on the plate because the main thing in my story is an apple, apple is a food that why I use the plate as a design for my movie sequence.

In digital design other than using the software we also need to use the phone, digital camera, and other thing to record the thing as an evidence. For the task 3 we need to use the phone to record the sound and take the picture. We need to identify the texture, the shape, the sound and the form of the object. From this research I  learnt that a different object we get a different texture, shape, sound and form although it a same object but it have a difference material will produce a difference texture, shape, sound and form.

Critical Thinking [midpoint review]

Critical thinking is the one of the  subject that I think need me to think harder from the first week until now. from this subject I learnt to look at the object and try to think critically like in the first week I need to use my imagination to think what I can made or draw with sugar case and the feather. Other than that I also learnt how to make my own typography. To design my own typography we need to really understand the structure of the typo and identifying what kind of way we want to make either using shadow, light or color paper. For my typography I using the color paper and the origami style.

Beside that from this subject I learnt to know my peer deeply trough their character. One of the task need us to describe about our self in 5 words. Therefore, we sit down and discuses what other peer know about our self. Sometime when we do task like this it make me realize about something that I do not know about my self but other person see it in our self and it could be right and could be wrong. After that we need to experiment using the software what type of typo should we use to represent the word and what color should we use to make it look attractive and representing the word.

    The peer opinion also very important to this subject because sometime we cannot see what other peer see in our work. Their opinion are very useful for us to improve our quality of work such as the task that we need to describe our self in 5 words. From our peer we can know what their opinion about our work and sometime they also give a tip to us for improve our work.

Lastly, from this subject I also learnt how to interpret the sound that we heard to the word. I learnt that not easy to interpret a sound sometime when we interpret it into the word it will produce other sound when other person read it. Other than that I learnt that when we sit down at some place we can heard many sound an this sound are very interesting. Beside that I also learnt to think critically about the sound of some place that is difficult to interpret it such as the sound of the house. It make me think hard and imagine what the sound that the house produce.

In conclusion I think this subject is a very interesting subject that require me to think deeply about something. This subject not only need my brain to be use but also my eye,ear and other part of my body to be functions for a good quality of work. Other than that the peer opinion also help in this subject because their opinion sometime will solve our problem in our work.

Task 2 : Movie Sequence

We are ask to make a movie sequence from the story that we have choose from the first task. My story sequence is about Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs. I must using the software to design the character but after I think again about it I decided to use food as the character of for my movie sequence. I use flour for design the snow white and the prince character and I also use basil seeds to design the witch. I use food to design the character because in the story snow white the climax of the story is about apple. Therefor I using plate and the food for this movie sequence. I also use software like photoshop and illustrator to edit picture of the seven dwarf, the castle, the mirror, the horse, and the seven dwarf house. Other than that I also paint on the plate. This is my work :
 

I find that not easy to make this task because I need to really understand the story and identify the plot of the story also I need to think what kind of movie sequence that I want to make. So this is my final work for this task. 

At first I want to make this movie sequence into a puzzle because I think this story is about a life story. A life story is not complete if some of the part of the story is missing just like the puzzle if some part of the puzzle missing so the puzzle is not complete. But actually this story is more to love story and the main thing in this story is the apple so I think why not I make this movie  sequence on the  plate.

• Try to understand what medium and the things that we want to use to represent the story so it will give some effect to the audience when they look at our work.

Task 2 : Word As Visual Expression

From 5 word that we have choose, we need to use illustrator and  make the word reflect the meaning of it's.
The first one is the words SUAVE. the meaning of word suave is someone who is charming, polite and elegant, but may be insincere. This is the  mind map that I have done:

I use the century gothic as the typography and put the icon like a tie at the latter 'u' to make it look like a man suit it represent the elegant of the suit.

Second word is CHEERFUL. The meaning of the words cheerful is a person or thing that bring joy, humor or good spirits and also causing happiness by it's nature or appearance. This is the mind map for the word cheerful:

The typography for this word is Jokerman Regular. I use this type of typo because the letter look cheer.and I also make the letter not in the same leading to make it look more fun. I make one of the letter 'e' reflected to another side to make it look like two people were laughing at each other.

The third word is CREATIVE. The meaning of the word creative is the person who have the ability to invent and develop original ideas, especially in the art. The mind map for this word:

The typography for this word is Curlz MT. I use this type of typo because it look artistic with the rounded line at the letter. I also make the letter 't' look like the added symbol it mean the positive thinking to make the creative art.

The fourth word is INTELLIGENT. Intelligent mean a person that has the ability to think,understand, and learn things quickly well and this is the mind map for this word:

I use the vijaya regular typo for this word because the it look smart and like an educated letter. The use of exclamation mark as the letter 'i' like a idea that the intelligent person always need to think to solve a problem. The use of the capital letter 'T' is to make the word tell look clear, the intelligent person must have the ability to tell other person about what they think.

The fifth word is FRIENDLY. Friendly mean someone who behave in a pleasant, kind way, and like to be with other people. This is the mind map for the word friendly:

For this word I use Pristina regular as the typo because this typo look simple and intimate. I make the letter close with each other because friendly mean get close with every friend that we have around us. I make the letter 'L' capital because want to show the word mean very friendly.

• Every single typo have a different character and we need to understand it to make the message that we want to deliver clear to the audience.
• We also need to understand clearly about the meaning of the word so that easy for us to make decision which typo that we should use for the word.
• The arrangement of the letter also play the role in deliver the message to the audience. It also can make the meaning of the word look more clear.

Activity In The Class

In that day we need to go outside of the class and need to find two item one is the natural thing and another one is human made. I choose two thing one is the leaf and another one is hand phone.
After we has pick two item we need to do the transformation of the two item. My item is leaf and the phone so I need to draw the transformation from the leaf to became the phone.
This activity quite fun and interesting because we need to think and draw the transformation step by step in one hour and this is what I have done :

Task 1 : Create A Movie Poster

This task wants me to pick one movie and make a new poster for the movie so I pick the snow white and the seven dwarfs’ movie.

This story is about a beautiful girl, Snow White, takes refuge in the forest in the house of seven dwarfs to hide from her stepmother, the wicked Queen. The Queen is jealous because she wants to be known as "the fairest in the land," and Snow White's beauty surpasses her own. The dwarfs grow to love their unexpected visitor, who cleans their house and cooks their meals. But one day while the dwarfs are at their diamond mine, the Queen arrives at the cottage disguised as an old peddler woman and persuades Snow White to bite into a poisoned apple. The dwarfs, warned by the forest animals, rush home to chase the witch away, but they are too late to save Snow White from the poisoned apple. They place her in a glass coffin in the woods and mourn for her. The Prince, who has fallen in love with Snow White, happens by and awakens her from the wicked Queen's deathlike spell with "love's first kiss." 

I think to use the apple as the main object for the movie because the apple is the cause snow white fall sleep and this is the important thing in the story. The apple also represent as a weapon to kill the snow white.

This is my first poster:

From this poster it look like too simple and does not have any story from the poster so I put some smoke to make it look like poisonous. Then I notice that the taglines are not suitable with the image of apple so I need to find a new tagline.

When everything finish I print the poster and it look like something are lack. So I do it again I find what is the important thing in the story and try to summary all in one poster. I decide to make a new poster with the image of apple and the snow.

I choose snow because the snows white are born in the snow and the apples are the cause of snow white fall sleep. I also change the tagline. At first I want to make it in black and white, but it look like the image of the apple not clearer and the name of the actor are too big and the position are not suitable. Finally I decide to rearrange it back and this is the final poster of the snow white.

Learning outcome

Before do something we need to plan everything and the draft is the important thing that we need to do. When we have the draft and we have plan the work will be easier.

So this is my drawing may be not nice but I try my best to draw it.

1. The sun and the flower.

From here I understand that the flower need the sun to grow and to get energy same goes to human, human need sugar to get the energy to do a lot of work in a day.

2. The eye.

Every human being use eye to see and record what happen in their daily life and the eye are very important part of the body. Without eye human being will feel very difficult to move and do a job. It same goes to the function of the sugar, our body needs sugar to gain the energy. If our body do not have sugar we will feel weak.

3. The snail.

The shape of the sugar case are round so I think it is similar with the shell of the snail.

4. The tortoise.

 The shell of the tortoise is round so I put the sugar case at the back of the tortoise and it look like the shell of the tortoise. We as a human need sugar if our body contains less sugar we will feel weak and do not have energy. When we not have energy the work that we want to do will be slow like a tortoise.

5. An orange

The shape of orange are circle same shape with the sugar case. Orange have a lot of vitamin and inside the orange also contain sugar that need in our body.

6. The lizard.

The pattern of the feather like a tiger fur so I imagine that the pattern on the lizard body.

  7. The pen.

The ends of the feather are sharp and also look like a pen. It has been use long time ago.

8. Cover of the Keris

The pattern of the feather very nice and it will be nice if we use it as a cover of the Keris.

9. Perfume bottle.

The pattern of the feather can be the cover of the perfume bottle and the end of the feather look like the tube in the perfume bottle.

10. Dress.

The feather pattern can be the new design for the dress and it looks nice.

WHAT I GET FROM THIS ACTIVITIES

* Try to think faster and always think creative.

* Don't scare to make a mistake

* Try to think something that outside of the box about the thing.
