PROPOSAL REPORT
INTRODUCTION
Mantin is a small town
in Negeri Sembilan, which have many culture and race inside it and they in live
harmony. Mantin got the names from tin mines owned by a Chinese taukeh (a
famous Chinese businessman) Kong Sang. British people call this place as Mine
Tin due to plenty of tin, however the locals could not pronounce Mine Tin
correctly. Instate, they called the place Mantin.
According to other
source, Mantin was once known as Abu Hassan. It is believe to be opened by
Malays who came from pantai, seremban. According to the story the old people in
Mantin, the original name of this place is Many Tin. The name given by the
British following a number of tin in the area. At that time, many immigrants
from china have moved here to become workers in the tin mines. As Chinese
people hard to say the word Many Tin they facilitate the pronunciation would
become Tin Man.
Mantin is a small town
and there is just one main street so it is unlikely, if not impossible to get
lost, if lost just ask around for direction. Jalan Besar also known as the main
street, it is where most of the attractions and historical building are
located. Along the street includes place such as banks, wet market, petrol
stations, police station, post office etc. Other than that in Mantin also have
a historical building like Gurdwara Sahib Sikh temple, St. Aloysius Catholic
church, Kolej Tuanku Ja'afar and also Legenda Education Group.
Besides that, in Mantin
also have a famous food like traditional Hakka food but now day there is no
longer Hakka food in Mantin but other Malaysian food is being serve especially
along the main street and in the Mantin hawker centre. Mantin also a famous
place for growing durian, starfruit, jack fruits, rose apple, and guava.
PROBLEM
STATEMENT
In Mantin there is a
lot of system such as road system, food system, nature, building, car system
and many more. In each of the system there is a problem that we must find a
solution. My topic is food system, in Malaysia food is one of the attractive
things that the entire tourist must try.
There is one article
about Malaysia is the food heaven for the tourist, from the article they said
that Malaysian food products will become the country's tourism industry
attractiveness as 1Malaysia Food Festival, which runs for three months from
October to December was made official in the state tourism calendar. From the
text we can conclude that food is something that is famous and well known in Malaysia.
Each of the country and place has different famous food. It became a symbolic
for each of the state in Malaysia for example when we talk about Asam Pedas
people will think Melaka. Why? Because Melaka famous in Asam Pedas. It same
goes to other place.
In Mantin there is many
restaurants and food stall but the problem is most of the restaurant and food
stall serve the same menu. How we can identify which restaurant and food stall
serve the best food that we want to eat? Other than that how the customer can
choose the right restaurant and food stall without wasting time?
TRADEMARK
OF MANTIN
A trade mark is a sign
that you can use to distinguish your business goods of services from those of
other trades. A trade mark can be representing graphically in the form of your
company's logo or a signature. Through a registered trademark, you can protect
your brand by restricting other people from using its name or logo. For example
like the trademark for McDonald’s restaurant they use the sentence I’m lovin’
it and also the KFC restaurant the trade mark is ‘so good’. Therefor for the
Mantin project also needs a trademark that is suitable for my topic.
Because my topic is
about the food system in Mantin therefore I choose the word Foodie for my
trademark. Foodie means a person keenly interested in food, especially in
eating or cooking. I choose words foodie because I want make a game therefor
the name of foodie suitable to represent my game that is in the game the
character will go search for food. Therefor from the trademark also will make
the audience go to search and try the food in Mantin.
Once acquired a trademark can last indefinitely as
long as you renew it every 10 years. Because a registered trade mark is a form
of IP, you can license or assign it to other. It is difference with logo. Logo
is a design symbolizing ones organization. It is a design that is used by an
organization for its letterhead, advertising material, and signs as an emblem
by which the organization can easily be recognize, also called logotype.
Logotype is a graphic representation or symbol of a company name, trademark,
abbreviation, etc., often uniquely designed for ready recognition.
To make a good logo we need to understand and know
the 5 principle of logo
1. SIMPLE
A simple logo allows for easy recognition and allows
the logo to be versatile and memorable. For example the logo for Nike it is
very simple and easy to remember even without the name Nike the logo still can
be easily recognize.
2. MEMORABLE
An effective logo should be memorable and this is
achieved by having a simple yet appropriate logo. For example the logo for
Channel it when people saw the logo they will know what it is.
3. TIMELESS
An effective logo
should endure the best of time. The logo should be 'future proof' meaning that
it should still be effective in 10, 20, 50+ years’ time for example the logo
coca cola company it is recognizable until now.
4. VERSATILE
An effective logo
should be able to work across a variety of medium and application. another way
to make a versatile logo is to begin designing in black and white. This allows
you to focus on the concept and shape, rather than color, which is subjective
in nature for example the logo of World Wildlife Fund.
5. APPROPRIATE
How you position the logo should be appropriate for its intended audience. For example, a child-like font and color scheme would be appropriate for a logo for a children's toy.
MY
LOGO
This is my logo, it is
a word foodie but I make a little bit difference. The letter ‘F’ and ‘I’ I make
it look like the spoon and the fork and also the letter ‘E’ I make it reflected
to make it look like the character that is trying to eat the word ‘FOODI’. I
use the spoon and also the fork because we need it when we want to eat, it like
the main thing that we need if we want to eat. Other than that if we see this
spoon and fork people will know it is about the food. The spoon and fork is
like the symbol of the food. The letter ‘E’ looks like the character in my
games but only the image for the head of my game character.
The colour that I
choose for my logo is dark red and red. The reason I choose the red colour
because from the phycology colour red makes people want to eat more and it
suitable colour for food.
TARGET
AUDIENCE
A target audience is
the intended audience or readership of a publication, advertisement, or other
message. In marketing and advertising, it is a specific group of people within
the target market at which a product or the marketing message of a product is
aimed. For example, if the company sell a new perfume for men, the
communication maybe aim at those men but also perhaps at their spouse. A target
audience can be formed of people of a certain age group, gender, marital
status, etc., e.g. teenagers, females, single people, etc. A combination of
factors, e.g. men aged 20–30 is a common target audience. Other groups,
although not the main focus, may also be interested. Discovering the
appropriate target market(s)and determining the target audience is one of the
most important activities in marketing management.
My target audience is
the international people that are include the staff and also the student from
Legenda education group from the range of age 25 – 35. I choose this target
audience because I want the international people try and spend time on eating
food in Mantin and discovering the new taste that is difference from their
food. Beside that I choose the range of age 25 – 35 because this group of
people may have their own transport to go Mantin and try the food in Mantin. Other
than that they also have their income to try the new thing in Mantin.
To get the result for
my topic I make a survey question and give it to Legenda people and this is the

WHAT
TO MARKET?
Product is an item that
ideally satisfies a market's want or need. To promote Mantin I need a product
that is can make an interaction between the audience and the information that I
want to deliver. Therefor I use the game as the product that I want to market
to promote Mantin. In the game the audience will feel the excitement when
playing the game and at the same time they feel the environment in Mantin and
know the food in Mantin.
The game is about the
searching the food in Mantin. There is different foot in each of the level and
each of the level will took place in the importance part in Mantin such as the
way from Legenda collage to the traffic light there is a fruit stall therefor
in the game audience need to collect the fruit that is sell in the Mantin. It
same for other level but each level have their own obstacle.
In the game audience
will get know the best place with the best food in Mantin. They will go to
Mantin searching and discover themselves about the food in Mantin. Other than
that it will make audience know the place that they can find the type of food
that they want.
To market my product I will make a game station that will invite all the Legenda people to joint it and trying the game. This is the layout for my game station I make it at the side of the Legenda lobby. This place will have the good lighting and also the air Cond to make the audience feel comfortable when the game play. The game station that I want to make is the simple game station.
PROMOTING
MANTIN
Advertising companies always
have to think up new ways to promote products. Promoting
product is an action taken by a company's marketing staff with the intention of
encouraging the sale of a good or service to their target market. For example,
product promotion performed by a typical business might take the form of
advertising the product in question via print or Internet ads, direct mail or
e-mail letters, trade shows, telephone and personal sales calls, TV and radio
ads, billboards, posters and flyers. For example the advertisement done by Coca
Cola Company they use many ways to promote their product that is almost all of
them need an interaction from the audience.
Other than that now all
people can connect with us through social network such as Facebook, Instagram,
Tweeter and many more. They will get all the information that they need trough
this social network. They also can give a feedback from this social network.
Therefor to make the interaction with the audience we need to create an account
that wills promoting Mantin and let everyone know about it.
We have made an event
page on Facebook and also the Instagram to make people alert and know about the
exhibition that we will make at the Legenda lobby. I’m in charge on the personal relation (PR)
and I need to handle the Facebook and also the Instagram account and make sure
the audience know what we work on. Each day I need to upload new picture about
the project that we want to make. The exhibition is about Lifian exhibition,
the words Lifian is from all English word that mean live. We choose this word
because in our project all is about the live in Mantin and the Instagram and
also the Facebook event page we name it as Lifian_exhibition
As a PR I need to find
the suitable picture to upload in Facebook and also Instagram to make people
alert about the exhibition that we want to make. Other than that I also must
find the suitable words that are will make people want to know more about the
exhibition. I use the hashtag to make other people not only Legenda people will
know about the exhibition but around the wold will know about it. The status
for the Instagram account for now is we have 52 followers with 11 post of
picture and most of the entire picture get a good feedback from the Instagram
user.
Other than that, to get
the nice picture I need to work with the photographer to get the nice shoot and
also the illustrator group to get the information about the logo and also the
poster for the exhibition.
This is the logo for
our Lifian exhibition:
The logo is based on Mantin view but we make
it black and white it will make the feel of negative and positive in Mantin. We
make the words Lifian half with white colour and the other half with black
colour because at the top of the words we represent it as the building that we
can see in Mantin town and the bottom is we want to represent it as the root
that is very strong. We make the white more because we want to show that Mantin
has a strong base and it also show that Mantin the old of Mantin.
CONCLUSION
From the principle of
marketing project I know how to make the good logo by follow all the principle
of designing a good logo. The good logo must be simple, memorable, timeless,
appreciate, and versatile.
Other than that I also
know how to promote and make people know about what we are doing using the
social network like Facebook, Instagram and many more. Social media is an
effective way to separate the news or the thing that we want to do. Through
social media also people from around the wold will know the each of the thing
that we share. Other than that using the proper words or sentence also will
make the audient feel curious about the exhibition and want to know more about
it.
Besides that, from the
exhibition I learnt on how to make the layout for the exhibition and also to
find the suitable place for my project. How to make the audience feel
comfortable with the place and make the audience feel attractive to go at the
exhibition.
